Santa at the piano at The Barn, surrounded by Christmas garlands

New this year

Cork's biggest Santa.
Four metres tall.

The North Pole came early. Cork's tallest Santa is home for the holidays at The Barn — four metres of him (that's thirteen feet, in old money) from bootheel to bobble. Bring the phone. Bring the kids. Bring the aunt who doesn't believe.

How the Christmas menus work

Booked in advance · Parties of 12+ must choose a set menu · 11 and under: set menu or regular menu

Our three Christmas set menus are for pre-booked parties. Any party of 12 or more has to choose one of them — with a full Christmas kitchen and a packed dining room, we can't take individual à la carte orders at that scale without slowing everyone else down. Parties of 11 and under can have a Christmas set menu too — book a table online and write which one in the special requests — or order off our regular menu as normal.

Christmas FAQ.

Can we have our office Christmas party at The Barn?

Absolutely — office and work Christmas parties are what our Christmas set menus are built for. Pick breakfast, lunch or dinner, and on Friday and Saturday party nights there's live music too. We're in Glanmire, a short drive from Cork city, with plenty of free parking. Parties of 12 or more, send a quick enquiry and we'll ring you back to sort the details.

Do you take large groups?

Yes — from small groups right up to large parties. Send us an enquiry with your numbers and we'll find the right space for you. Any party of 12 or more must choose one of the three set Christmas menus. Eleven or fewer? Book a table online as normal and write the Christmas menu you'd like in the special requests — we'll have it ready. Or just order off the regular menu.

What's the deposit?

For parties of 12 or more, it's €10 per head, fully refundable up to 24 hours before your booking. The deposit is what secures the date and confirms the numbers. Parties of 11 and under booking online don't need one.

Can we bring a birthday cake?

Yes. Bring the cake, bring the candles — we'll light them, sing happy birthday and take the photos at the table. What we can't do is serve the cake for people to eat on the premises: food-safety regulations (HACCP traceability) mean anything not prepared in our own kitchen can't be consumed here. So the cake stays whole for the photo, then goes home with you afterwards to eat. It's a rule we can't get around, but the moment still happens at the table.

Can we bring balloons or decorations?

Foil balloons are grand — bring as many as you like. Latex balloons we can't allow: some of our customers have latex allergies and some can have life-threatening reactions. Confetti is a hard no — it goes everywhere and is a nightmare for our team to clean up. Small table decorations are fine.

Are the party menus available every day?

Yes — all through November and December, pre-booked in advance. Breakfast serves 8.30am — 12 noon, lunch 12 — 4pm, dinner from 5pm. They need to be booked in advance; walk-ins order off the regular menu as normal.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. The Christmas set menus include vegetarian and vegan options, like the vegan festive roast at dinner — for any dietary requirements on a set menu, just let us know when you book. Eating from our regular menu? No need to flag anything in advance: dietary requirements are looked after on the day, with a huge choice across the menu.

Is there a kids' menu?

Yes — just let us know when booking how many kids you'll have.

When's the live music?

Friday and Saturday nights across the four party weekends — 27 & 28 November, 4 & 5 December, 11 & 12 December, 18 & 19 December. Open to everyone in on the night — no ticket needed, whatever you're eating.

How do I book?

Use the booking button at the top of the page. Parties of up to 11 can book a table online with instant confirmation. For 12 or more, fill in a quick enquiry and we'll ring you back to confirm — once it's confirmed you'll get a text with a link to pay the deposit.
